1. GREAT RIVERS ENVIRONMENTAL LAW CENTER TO VISIT ROLLA

Kathleen Henry and Sarah Willey, President and Director of Outreach and Development for Great Rivers Environmental Law Center, will visit Rolla on Monday, March 18. Please come to Panera in Rolla between 1:00 and 2:30 pm to meet Kathleen and Sarah. This event is an open forum with no set agenda.

Great Rivers is the public-interest law center that saved Buehler Park from being turned into a restaurant and won a landmark victory when the Courts ruled for the first time since 1910 that users of public property have standing in Missouri's Courts to maintain that public use.

If you have not done so recently, please consider making a donation to Great Rivers Environmental Law Center. Checks can be mailed to Great Rivers Environmental Law Center, 319 No. Fourth St., Suite 800, St. Louis, MO 63102. Great Rivers is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Donations can also be made online from Great Rivers' website. Please help Great Rivers so they can continue to help others as they helped us.

2. UPGRADES TO BUEHLER PARK

Buehler Park has running water now. New bathrooms are under construction. They should be open very soon.

The area between Buehler Park and the newly constructed Highway 72 extention and Kingshighway has not been landscaped yet. Lacking is a safety fence between the park and the highway.

3. DOG-PARK

Almost all of the meadow area, right up to the tree line, has been enclosed with 5 1/2 foot chain link fencing for dog-runs. The fences are ugly and overpowering. This was a great mistake.

4. TREES

The 46 trees we have planted in Buehler Park since the Courts ruled in 2007 that Buehler must remain a park will be coming out of winter dormancy any day now. One of the dogwood trees we planted several years ago on the east side of the pavilion is full of blossom buds. The dogwood blossoms will be a most welcome spring addition to the park. We hope that the other ten dogwood trees we planted will also blossom in following years.

5. MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

Municipal elections are Tuesday, April 2. Don't forget to vote. Six Rolla City Council members and two Rolla School Board members will be elected. All but one position are contested.
